Sriram's residence

An office cum residential space for Mr. Sriram and his four member family, located amidst a mixed residential area at Mylapore, with two levels for residence, one level for office at ground level. Served by a common core till first level which further serves as a private staircase completely, connecting the levels above. The office at the ground level is given a double height space with a mezzanine so as to have a work space at the ground level and storage in the mezzanine.

The first floor accommodates a living room with open dining and kitchen with a single master bedroom. The second floor accommodates a small informal family room with two bedrooms. The staircase from the ground level is closed at the level 1, from the level 1 to floors above the same staircase is used as a private internal staircase. Considering the size and corner location of the plot, the roadside façade was put to maximum use with balconies having tall sliding windows to not just allow light and ventilation but also to serve as an extended space of the living room.

The 2nd floor balcony and 1st floor kitchen from the exterior was cladded with vertical fixed louvres considering the fact that it faces the roadside and further towards an apartment on the opposite end, which was a cause of concern for privacy. The style is kept contemporary with punching colours both in the exterior and interior with neutral colours of grey and white.
